The FAA is seeking a $2,388,500 civil penalty against Stratus Aviation, LLC, alleging the company operated an unairworthy aircraft on multiple flights.

The FAA is seeking a civil penalty of $2,388,500 against Stratus Aviation, LLC, alleging the company operated an unairworthy aircraft on multiple flights.

According to the agency, the aircraft was flown while known maintenance discrepancies remained unresolved, and required inspections were not completed before those flights. The FAA alleges the operator continued to schedule the aircraft in revenue service despite the outstanding items.

Why it matters: This enforcement action highlights the FAA's continued focus on strict adherence to airworthiness standards, which is critical for all Part 91 and 135 operators. Flight departments should review their maintenance deferral and return-to-service documentation to confirm every discrepancy is properly tracked and signed off.
